How to Change the Oil on a Cub Cadet Zero-Turn Rider

Change the engine oil after the first 8 hours of break-in, then every 100 hours or once a season. The ZT2 50 holds roughly 2.1 qt US (2 L) with a filter.

Run the engine for a few minutes so the oil warms and flows freely, then shut it down, remove the key and set the parking brake.

Place a drain pan under the drain hose or plug, remove the cap and let the oil drain completely. Remove the oil filter with a filter wrench.

Lightly coat the new filter's gasket with fresh oil and hand-tighten it into place. Reinstall the drain plug securely.

Refill with the grade specified in your operator's manual, check the dipstick, run the engine briefly and re-check the level. Recycle the used oil at a service center.
