How to Change the Air Filter in Zero-Turn Lawn Mower

A clean air filter keeps dirt and debris out of the engine and helps your Cub Cadet zero-turn mower run at peak power. Cub Cadet recommends checking the filter every 25 operating hours and replacing it at least once per season, or more often in dusty conditions.

Park the mower on a level surface, disengage the PTO, set the parking brake, turn the engine off and remove the ignition key. Allow the engine to cool completely before servicing.

Release the clips or knob on the air cleaner cover and lift the cover away. Carefully remove the paper element so loose dirt does not fall into the intake, then wipe out the housing with a clean, dry cloth.

Inspect the element against a light source. If it is discolored, oily or damaged, install a new element — never wash a paper element. Seat the new filter squarely in the housing, refit the cover and secure the clips.

Reconnect the spark plug leads, start the engine and let it run briefly to confirm smooth idle and throttle response.
